Great hotel in good location of Bogota.
We stayed here about a week or two before christmas for a total of 8 nights. When I booked it, it was for one of the 'smaller' rooms in Lancaster House, but when we got there it was more like a small apartment. It had a living / dining area, kitchen, bathroom (with a seperate hand basin just outside) and of course a bedroom. This was more than enough room for our needs! The apartment was furnished very nicely with some basic but modern and colourful furniture. There was a TV mounted on the wall in the bedroom, for us this was quite adequate, much better to watch laying down or while drifting off to sleep. The kitchen had minimal cooking utensils, so if you wanted to cook for yourself, you would only be able to prepare something simple, but I guess most visitors don't even bother with this. The place was very clean and as expected, if you wanted, the apartment would be cleaned on a daily basis and I must say they did a very good job at this. All the staff we encountered from the cleaners, the kitchen staff, to the staff in the reception area were all very friendly and helpful at all times and they do operate a 24 hour front desk. Lancaster House is in a good area and many places of interest are very accessible and easy to get too and from with a short cab journey. It is also located near to the Transmilenio which is another very convenient way of getting around town. The only problems we did encounter were the chamber maids wanting entry to our room in the late afternoon to pull the curtains, which I thought was a bit strange but not a real problem, only they would enter if we did not answer their knocks quickly enough. I think this kind of service is not really necessary, but maybe that's the way things are done in Colombia? Another problem was that the phone rang a few times while we were asleep, like an alarm call or something, when we queried it at the front desk they did not have any knowledge of it. Perhaps it was a simple mistake, it was certainly nothing to get upset about. Another issue with the phone, we tried to make an outgoing call but it did not seem to work properly. The main issue for me is that it is located on a very busy road and the traffic did keep me awake at times, but this was early on in my stay and I usually have trouble sleeping in unfamiliar places. After a couple of days this was not an issue. All in all these are very minor problems, certainly nothing to be concerned about or to change your mind about staying here, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and am already planning my next stay!
