Can't say it was a bad deal
When I planned the Singapore trip I didn't read the other hotel reviews (big mistake!) and I was sure that we can get decent rooms for an approx. daily 70S$ rate in the city. So right after I booked the plane tickets it slammed me in the face while reading the other hotel reviews; all the hotels with these rates were in the red light district, some were complaining of bad reception, extra small rooms (some with no windows), noise (thin walls, lot of "activity"), staines and hair on bedsheets, plastic sheets (slips off and sweaty to sleep in it), roaches, bad ACs, mold in the bathroom, no shower curtains (wets the whole bathroom), faulty sewage system, problem with hot water, etc. So I kept looking and picked this hotel; the rate was approx. 105S$/day. The reception was ok, took only 2 minutes to check in, all the receptionists we met were helpful and polite. The corridor was in good shape, clean, cool, but the room was indeed small, just as in the reviews. But since we were there just during the night and had only 1 suitcase, it was no problem. The AC wasn't over our head, it worked just fine and wasn't noisy. There was a window, a table, a wardrobe, also a nice TV (didn't have time to turn it on though), a bed and the sheets were not plastic ones, also haven't seen any stains on them. The WiFi code was written on the phone, don't know how fast it was (we just planned our trips with GoogleMaps for the next day). Haven't seen any bugs or mosquitos or any other creatures (dead or alive). The bathroom wasn't big also, but ok, the shower had a glass door, no leakage or cloging, no mold, hot water ran good (didn't really needed it), but had no mirror (had to take it off from the room to shave). I heard some noises, chatting the first 2 nights, but didn't really bothered me. The cleaning lady came every day, got the complimentary bottles of water, didn't go anything missing. Mostly we came home around midnight, but didn't see ladies of the night, nobody bothered us, didn't looked like a bad neighbourhood. The MRT is not close, but with the bus we could go almost anywhere with one transfer (bus stops 100 m away). Also there is a mall within 10-15 minutes of walk, and places to eat cheap.
Don't know how the other rooms were, but this was our room (no. 28) and this is my opinion, so if you just want to sleep there and don't have great demands, then I would recommend it.
