We stayed 2 nights. Front desk was excellent; friendly & patient. They upgraded our mediocre gtahotels room rated room. Breakfast was excellent.
The lobby was intermittantly filled with sophisticated clientele. The room was small but the view was wonderful. Location is excellent. They also cater to business travelers. Highly recommended although not luxurious its service is sufficient for the independent traveler.

I was here from May 2, 2004 to May 6, 2004.
The Sofitel Royal Lyon is a typical European style hotel on Place Bellecour. It is just a short walk to Old Lyon. In all, I thought that the location was very good. Place Bellecour is very nice and there are plenty of shops and cafes nearby. It's about 5-10 minutes walk to the old part of the city.
The room was fairly typical European except that mine was rather large.
The english speaking staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
I could not get the WiFi to work with my computer so I had to use dialup.
I would stay here again.
