favoloso hotel

This hotel is quite lovely. I was in what I believe was a renovated room so I don't know if this means there are still unrenovated rooms.
Either way, my room was great- very spacious, balcony with view of Acropolis, super comfortable bed, tv sound in the bathroom! Staff was friendly and attentive. Rooftop pool was nice (often crowded) and the bar/restaurant up there is a great place to get a drink. As others have reported, the location is definitely a challenge. They really don't advertise the shuttle which they should- its a great benefit. Otherwise you're left to expensive cabs which always seemed less expensive on the way back, not sure why that is. The Metro also services the area but be prepared, it is a bit of a walk to get to the nearest station. It is definitely doable though- I did it a few times. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The Athens Ledra Marriott is a wonderful experience! The rates are very reasonable for the quality that is displayed and experienced. The beds are very comfortable and the restaurants are extraordinary! Most rooms have views from the balconies of the Parthenon. One of my favorite amenities to this fabulous hotel is the roof top pool and bar with one of the most amazing views of the Acropolis in the city!

We just came from a 4-day trip to Athens. We stayed at Ledra for 3 nights. I can still visualize the illuminated view of Acropolis. We usually stay in the intercontinental group hotels. After reading the comments in this site we decided to try Ledra. Through Chase travel rewards, we booked this hotel for a family of 4. We had very comfortable stay and great breakfast buffet. Usually, it is hard to wake up kids in the morning while we are on vacation. My kids loved the hotel and the breakfast. Beds are very comfortable. Clean rooms. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Next time when we stay in Marriot we decided to keep at least one day free to enjoy the hotel. We went to Acropolis and city tour one half day and the next day went to Mycenae, Epidurus. Both days we took a private taxi. The driver was very nice, reasonably knowledgeable. Arranged by the concierge at the hotel. Third day we took the one-day cruise. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Tourist Athens is basically an small ancient town dropped into a sprawling modern city. Piraeus, the gateway to the Greek Islands is far away; the Saronic coast and Cape Souniam even further. The Marriott's 'tweener' location at 115 Syngrou splits the difference between Athens center and Piraeus, and is convenient for a traveller ambitious to see the whole of Attica; not just the area surrounding Syntagma Square and the Plaka. The hotel restaurants are pricey but the food is good. Room service is swift, the staff is polite and responsive, and will actually talk to you beyond the first sentence if you indicate interest. There's even a Starbuck's in the lobby. The rooftop bar-restaurant and swimming pool offers a clear view of the Partheon, doubly beautiful at night when the lights are turned on. I found it a good place to gather perspective and plot the next move. The area surrounding the hotel is filled with small, inexpensive tavernas, including one or two Italian and Chinese. The entrance to the Acropolis is a meandering 0.9KM up a through a pleasant non-tourist neighborhood. Walking through these streets I experienced more of how Athenians live in terms of street life, shops, and residences, and came away with a more indelible sense of a comfortable city at ease with itself, then the forced marches through the Plaka and Monastiriki areas with my fellow tourists. To be fair, I visited Athens in August when the line between a traveller and a refugee is blurred. Having been warned about Athens taxis I had an edge on when I entered my first several cabs; but in my 12 day stay I must've taken over thirty cabs and only had two disappointing experiences. The meter was 'broken' in one and flat rate charged; in the second the cabbie turned into a 'wild 'n crazy' tout and I had to refocus him on getting back to the hotel. You run into much worse in New York. It's time to lighten up on Athens cabbies. The Ledra Marriott was a good host, and helped make Athens a positive experience.
