I found the hotel without too much difficulty from the Marco Polo waterbus. Turn left as you get off the boat, over a small bridge, pass Harrys Bar turn right, to the end of the lane, turn left cross over the first bridge, immediate left passed the Gondoliers under the canopy and there is the hotel. A warm welcome, no waiting, reservation confirmed. NO LIFT. Room spotless and well designed. All facilities worked well including the efficient shower. Bed comfortable. View over small canal. Breakfast terrific and varied. Open 24hrs. So central as to be unbelievable for St. Marks, shops and restaraunts. Fantastic value. Would certainly stay there again. |

I found this hotel by reading the reviews on this site and could not have been more delighted. Although small the room was spotless and really cosy and comfortable. The windows and little balcony looked out over the canal, perfect for watching the gondolas drift past. The hotel staff noticed from my passport that it was my birthday and left a bottle of champagne in the room. All in all a wonderful find and only minutes from St. Mark's Square and some fantastic shops. |

I shopped around forever, to find a reasonably priced hotel in Venice on a canal. Decided on the Lisbona and were very satisfied with our Sept 2003 stay. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean. The hotel is along a side canal, facing the 5-star Hotel Baur. Had a slight problem with the water pressure in the shower some mornings, but it only lasted a minute or two. You are just a few steps away from San Marco square and there are gondola rides just steps away from the hotels front door.
The hotel staff even arranged for a complimentary boat ride to Murano for us. Looking forward to staying there again. A great value for the price! |

I was travelling with my eight-year old son on a bit of a hooley from Dublin - Brussels - Venice - Stuttgart in August 2003, and after what was a very crummy hotel in Brussels (room stank of ammonia, old fashioned grill-fronted lift of the sort when put together with curious 8 yr old fingers = a trip to casualty, unsettlingly close to the red-light area, bar/lounge the size of a postage stamp, etc) I was looking forward to our next internet booked hotel with considerable trepidation.
Hotel Lisbona turned out to be like a gift - close to San Marco in spectacular surroundings, a quaint stepped bridge, a smalle calle with a beautiful church, and smart designer shops make up the view from the front door. Air conditioned to within an inch of decency, every possible need catered for in the rooms, from a sewing kit to a mosquito repeller, lovely staff, and an eat-all-you-can brekkie.
All this with lovely clean rooms, comfortable beds, and stunning decor.
As my son said, 'It's dead posh here innit, Mam!'
Hotel Lisbona was certainly the cherry on the cake of staying in Venice, and I could recommend it to any traveller gladly. |

If you are looking for a reasonably priced 3 star hotel in the San Marco area - look no further than the Hotel Lisbona. Located 3 mins walk from the Piazza San Marco and directly opposite the luxurious Hotel Bauer is this charming boutique hotel. The decor is typical Venetian style (not just another anonymous hotel room) and most rooms have a view over a canal which is frequented by serenading gondoliers. Although the rooms are not large, they are definitely not the smallest hotel rooms in Venice! Our room was located on the first floor and had a full bathroom with a bath which you could sit in and open the bathroom window and listen to the singing gondoliers - very romantic! The breakfast was served downstairs and was very good in comparison to most other Italian hotels. There was also a small lounge area downstairs where you could have a drink in the evening and share your travel stories. The only down side is that the hotel is not easy to find the first time you look for it - when you cross the bridge behind the Hotel Bauer, it is on your left (towards the Grand Canal), past the gondola station (you can't miss that - all the gondoliers with their striped shirts are lounging around waiting for customers!) and at the end of the covered walkway. I hope you enjoy your stay there as much as we did. |

Spend 2 nights at this wonderful hotel in summer just tuck away off St mark's square. The staff is helpful and the location is just perfect, just 5 mins off St Mark's square and away from all the hordes of tourists and bombers pigeons ! The room thou small is nicely decorated and is very cosy. In fact, it is just by one of the canal with a gondola stop and if you stay on the top level and stretch ur head out, you can get a pictureseque view of the Grand Canal. Breakfast was also good with quite a decent spread thou the dining area is limited. Overall, it represented excellent value for money and is one of a gem ! |

A great view of a small side canal and the sounds of singing gondoliers floating through the window greeted us each morning (around 10am -- don't be alarmed). The staff were very friendly and helpful and directed us to a great restaurant. The room was small but elegantly decorated and very clean. A mini bar with snacks was present, as was a potent air conditioner. We slept through all of the breakfasts, but the breakfast room looked nice. There is no elevator, and rooms start on the 2nd floor. Great location -- 3 minutes walk from San Marco Vallaresso vaporetto (#82 or #1) stop, and 5 minutes walk to Piazza San Marco. From the vaporetto stop, go straight past a bunch of designer shops (Gucci, etc.), then take a left at the end of the street. Cross over one small canal bridge, and look to your left under the archway -- there it is, tucked away. We would definitely stay here again! |

What a little treasure! We struggled for a little while to find it. As you go up over the canal coming from San Marco square it's on the left alongside the canal. The staff were helpful, booked a music night, and helped us with travel. It's ideally situated 1 minute from San Marco.
The rooms were a little small but opened out onto the canal. Would definitely go back. |
