Good hotel in a great location

We'd booked for 3 nights, but, as some people have complained of here, we were told there was a problem with the room for the first night and they put us up down the road in a hotel that was just about comparable. [This practice seems common in Cuba, and although the plumbing and electrics are clearly an issue, I suspect they end up double booking the rooms if it serves their purpose]. Once we'd got there, however, we enjoyed it - lovely, spacious rooms, well decorated, off a leafy courtyard, with decent hot water. Breakfast was pretty good as well. Our only slight niggle was the noise from people coming back to their rooms overnight - the sound rather echoes around the courtyard, and being woken at 4am by some rather loud, thoughtless fellow-residents took the gleam off it somewhat. The location, however, is absolutely fantastic and it's a brilliant base for exploring Habana Vieja. I would definitely be tempted to go back to this place if returning to the city.
