| A great deal of character and charm... |
|
Margherita Hotel is a very good property, ideally located for evening walks in the town old centre for shopping, eating and drinking out, and very close by to the beach.
All the rooms are medium in size and in very good conditions. The decor of the rooms varies. Most been decorated in a typical Mediterranean style with white tiling and light colour schemes. The rest are decorated in a more traditional style. Bathrooms are small in size and in very good condition.
The restaurant is on the ground floor and offers both Sardinian and international specialities. This is not open year round. This is a typical mediterranean building with pleasant stone arcs.
The lobby is large in size and is decorated in a very pleasant traditional style with sofas and chairs scattered around to relax or watch tv and enjoy a drink from the adjoining bar. |
| LOCATION |
|
The Margherita Hotel is located in Algheros' centre, just minutes away from the beach. The hotel is located in the old town centre, ideal for shopping, eating and drinking out, and at the same time very close by to the beach.
Alghero is a little bit of Catalonia in Italy. The most charming town in Sardegna has been strongly influenced by the Catalonians. Catalan is still the official language and the culinary tradition of this part of the island also shows a clear influence, but don't worry you will still be able to get a pizza here.
The main sights include the old city walls and the seven defensive towers that still stand tall. The Porta Terra is also part of the old defensive system. It was built at the expenses of the Jewish community of Alghero.
Via Roma, Via Carlo Alnerto and Via Principe Umberto are the main streets in the old town. You find many small shops, restaurants and bars in the area. At the end of the Principe Umberto you reach the Cathedral which has an impressive dome. A few blocks from here the Palazzo d'Albis (on Piazza Civica) and the Palau Reial (on Via Sant'Erasmo) are good examples of the predominant Catalan gothis style that makes Alghero such an elegant city. |
