I was a little worried about some of the negative reviews that i read on this site before i stayed here, but i am happy to report that we had a wonderful experience at the Mayfair hotel. First, the location: very quiet location with a metro stop near by. There are 4 linees that use this stop - it was very easy to get around town and felt very safe. It is pretty close to everything - being very centrally located. Second, the service: A note about the French - I found that if you try to speak a little French (I don't know any outside of the greetings) the people are very very friendly. I found this to be true everywhere. I found no anti-american attitudes or racism ( i was surprised - this was noted in the Let's Go - Paris). The desk staff was very helpful. They made restaurant reservations for us and greeted us warmly when came and left. The continental breakfast was ok. The waiter there was very nice and attentive. Third, the room: Fairly good size by european standards with all the usual amenities. The bathroom was particularly large and recently redone. The bed was comfy enough. All in all, I would definitely stay at the Mayfair again and I recommend it without reservation.

We stayed at he Mayfair in February 2003. We were very pleased with the accommodations. The room was average in size (not too small) and clean.
The staff was helpful and courteous. However, I was also stuck with the internet charge after inadvertantly messing with the system. I did not argue it and figured lesson learned. The hotel is in an excellent location for sight seeing.

I stayed at the Mayfair for 6 nights in April 2003 and could not have been more satisfied with the hotel. The room was a good size with adequate "counter" space and shelves in the closets. The bathroom was large and everything was spotlessly clean. I am amazed at the two poor reports on this site regarding security and staff. The staff were extremely pleasant, polite, friendly and helpful. Security was never an issue (and I and my mother were traveling alone) since the glass doors were locked in the evening and not opened until the receptionist recognized that you were a guest (they have amazing memories). Later in the evening, the outside door was locked (guests gained entrance by ringing the bell and a video camera revealed our faces to the receptionist. I never felt in danger or at risk in the hotel, near the hotel or anywhere in Paris for that matter. Stay at the Mayfair - the location and staff are out excellent.

We stayed at the Mayfair Hotel from April 22-28, 2003. The room was large and beautifully decorated, the marble bathroom was clean and modern, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We tried to speak French and they appreciated that, but as soon as my terrible command of the language failed, they jumped in in English. The room service bill was much less than I thought it would be. We took 5 large bottles of water from the minibar and made 4 phonecalls and it only came to 20 Euros. Not bad. The location of this hotel across from the Tuilleries gardens, a block from the Lourve, and walking distance from most museums and the Eiffel Tower was great. The security was good as well. There were always at least 2 people at the front desk watching everyone who came in and out. My experience in traveling has been that if you are pleasant and reasonable, people are friendly. If you are rude and demanding, you end up with a horror story. And in France, the customer is not always right. If you are rude, you are treated rudely back. Frankly, this makes more sense to me. I can highly recommend this hotel because it was a great place to stay.

I just returned from Paris and a stay in the Mayfair Hotel for 8 nights. I traveled with my mother and teenage daughter, and we very happy with the hotel. We had a triple room (number 65) which was very large, as was the bathroom. The service was absolutely wonderful, and we had no charges of any kind on our bill or problems at all while we were there. It really is in an excellent area. I would definitely stay there again on a return trip, should I be so lucky!

My husband and I just got back from a 6 night stay at the Mayfair Hotel. We had a wonderful experience there. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the location of the hotel is excellent. We were within walking distance of most of the major "sites," and there is plenty of shopping nearby. The breakfasts were delicious, and the staff were very pleasant and accomodating. Had no problems with security or false charges on our bill - overall, this is a great place to stay to explore Paris.
