Good hotel, a little pricey
The location of the hotel is great. We stayed the at the end of Feb 2009. Its right on the sea wall, only problem is the traffic can get very busy around early morning rush hour and afternoon rush hour. The staff are great, the rooms are clean, well stocked and most seem to offer good views. The free wireless Internet works very well and was essential as I got ill while in Santo Domingo! My top tips for staying here is make sure if there are two or more then you register for the reward scheme "mas" which lets you get breakfasts 2x1. Also if you want to walk around town, take a right out of the hotel (immediate right, dont walk to the road) go past the gift stores of the hotel, turn right into the car park and go out the back exit. A block or two down the road you'll find a pharmacy, supermarket etc. These are essential if you dont want to pay $4 for a bottle of water in your room. Also if your Spanish is good the hotel dont mind you ordering out (we had Dominos one night), as to eat there in the evening is quite pricey, but so are most places in Santo Domingo.
