We recently stayed at the Monaco Grand Hotel in Venice. Although the hotel was under construction, it was in it's very last stages. The staff could not have been more helpful. There was absolutely no noise from the contruction. The hotel's decor is modern, although the hotel's restaurant is wonerfully decorated in old world Italian fashion. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant one evening and could not have been more pleased. The restaurant staff was very attentive and the food was fantastic. The hotel is also located very close to the San Marco water taxi stop, which was very convienent. I would highly recommend the Monaco Grand Hotel.

I stayed at hotel Grand Monaco in July 2002 for a week and I although work was being carried out at the time which meant the breakfast veranda was closed, the standard of service, general atmostphere, proximity to San Marco and the quality of the accomodation was all perfect. I ate in restaurent just once for dinner (was out sampling Venice most of time!) and I was most impressed with the food. Quite simply, if you want the glory of Venice on your doorstep and luxury, then you can't go far wrong. Incidentally, the hotel is owned by the Beneton family- well done to them!

I was very pleased with my stay at The Monaco and Grand Canal Hotel.
Just literally foot-steps away from the water bus stop and St. Marks Square, the location was ideal. With it's pleasant staff (just about the nicest people we meet in Venice) and clean and newly renovated accodomations, i would stay there again in a heartbeat. The restuarant is pricey but worth it when you taste the food.

We have just returned today from a 3 night stay at this wonderful , if a bit pricey, hotel. The situation cannot be bettered with its own terrace overlooking the Grand Canal and St Marks Square a couple of minutes stroll away. The standard room we had was a little small but the facilities and the bathroom were excellent. A very friendly and helpful staff made this a hotel we would return to on a, hopefully, future Venice holiday. The hotel fully opened on 1st April 2004 after a large refit and the small amout of fresco work that is being completed does in not cause any problems what so ever. One tip, take the water bus from the airport to St Marks Square as it drops you a matter of 10 yards from the hotel and is far cheeper, at 10 euros each, than a water taxi at 80 euros. Save the water taxi for the return trip to the airport, that way you get longer to relax on the terrace!

My wife and I have just returned from a 7 night stay at this excellent (but expensive) hotel. The location is fantastic, a step from the waterbus stop from the airport and a short walk to St Mark's Square.
Staff were friendly and attentive to detail. Small "complaints" about the room were dealt with immediately. The modernised room was fairly small but above average in terms of facilities. We would have liked one overlooking the canal. These are about to open after upgrading and I would recommed them above others. Food and service were excellent but, in common with many good restaurants in Venice, too pricey for us to eat there every evening. Other guest felt the same and it was not easy to find food in the vacinity which was value for money, apart from pizzas! The hotel would benefit from a competitively priced set menu for guests who wish to eat well, without breaking the bank. We highly recommend Venice and this hotel but take plenty Euros with you for food and drink.

The location couldn`t have been more convenient, right at the stop at St.Mark`s directly across from Harry`s bar.Rooms were renovated and modern with marble bathrooms, hair dryer and robes.Complimentary breakfast on the terrace facing the Grand Canal and all the activity was delightful. Also fresh towels were provided twice a day.Excellent dining at night.Probably wouldn`t have chosen this hotel except the internet rates were 50% less than their regular rates.

We loved our stay at this hotel in early June, 2004. It was our honeymoon, so I suppose that helped us get better service. We got an upgrade to a canal view room and free champagne. The room was on the small side, but very clean and the bathroom was also great. The breakfast terrace is very nice and the staff was quite helpful to us. Don't expect a big breakfast, though - just some breads and coffee. You can't beat the location either - it is exactly where you'd want to be in Venice. We had a wonderful time. It can be a bit pricey, but I would recommend this place without reservation.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 days from 26 May 2004, in a suite with a canal view.
The (first floor) suite was of a high standard, and had wonderful views from the balcony.
There was no sign of the building works that travellers earlier in the year had noticed, and the hotel decor is now a most interesting (and spacious) contrast between the ultra modern and traditional styles.
Breakfast on the ground floor terrace was an enjoyable experience in itself. We also ate one main meal in the hotel restaurant, which was of a high standard and not expensive for the very central and attractive location.
We also enjoyed meals of a high quality in the "Da Arturo" and the "Pescaor" restaurants - both less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel.
Altogether a wonderful trip, booked through gtahotels in London, England.

A hotel with a great location, an excellent restaurant onsite. Well appointed rooms. The concierge desk wasnt the most helpful infact on some occasions was downright rude. However, if its location and a well appointed room you're after, you can ignore the concierge and stay here! We got a great rate on a utell website.
