The Norbreck Castle hotel was far from our expectations. Entertainment facilities were good but the room standards very poor and the customer service the worst I have encountered.
If you have already booked any meals it will help to always be early, this will avoid you seeing any of the disgraceful scenes of staff physically cleaning the buffet areas while you are still eating. Do not expect to enjoy a leisurely meal, you will not be encourage to stay any longer than is necessary at your table.
Morning coffee and tea is served in flasks, no chance of a hot cup of tea.
There are no facilities to help you enjoy other attractions in Blackpool, do your own research before going.
To sum up I would consider a holiday camp such as Butlins before paying a discounted rate at the Norbreck Castle.

Reviewer From:A village in West Yorkshire !!
Well, After booking this weekend break, a short while ago. we were told of all these bad things about this hotel, so, looked on the internet and found this site, and on reading the reviews of Norbreck Hotel.
wondered really if we were doing the right thing by going, as our friends and us both have a young child too. anyway, we decided to keep an open mind, We arrived at the hotel, and checked in, all going well so far, got to our rooms, yes, all was well, still, yeah maybe the windows a bit dirty but hey, so what! the beds were fine, clean, complimentary tea/coffee/milk, in the room.and a television too! The bathroom was nice and clean, fluffy WHITE towels all set out nicely.
complimentary shower gel and soap etc, not a thing wrong with it so far!! got the cases and took them up to the room (darent do this till we had seen it after reading the reviews on here!!) after unpacking, went to the bar, had a couple of drinks, then went to the resteraunt for our evening meal. All got sat together, they came round and took our starter orders, good service, and the starter was really nice, then the main course was a carvery, Beef and Yorkshires, Roast ham, chicken, Roast pork, then as many potatoes as u wanted, all veg self service, all the sauces you could think of, gravy, then they came to clear our table away, and then we went to get our dessert, loads of choices, could have had a bit of all of them!! all with fresh cream, absolutely yummy!! NOTHING WRONG WHATSOEVER !!!!! we then went to see the entertainment, which was quite funny, a few innuendo's but nothing bad was said that children would have seen the 'other' side of !! but adults could... then a disco, went to bed, went down for breakfast in the morning, where do i start,,,,, had fresh orange juice, out of a choice of juices that you could have as much as you wanted, then cereals, again you could have as much as you wanted, then a FULL english breakfast, bacon, eggs beans, plum tomatoes, blackpudding, hash browns, sausages (2 types of! ) toast and jam or marmalade with butter, all of which you could have just as much as you wanted !!!!! or even fruit,- prunes, mandarines, grapefruit segments, with natural yoghurt, When it was time to go home on the sunday, i really wished we could have stayed there longer, and, WHEN we book it again, we will be staying for longer, we did go into the pool on the morning we were leaving, but never got the time to spend time in the childrens play area where the ship was, or try the jaccuzzi. but we will, we were in room 289 second floor in windsor wing. our friends/neighbours were in room 287. and we had a brilliant weekend shame it had to end. SO. IF YOU'RE THINKING OF GOING, Get yourself there, it was really nice, we had gone there expecting orange juice when we had paid for champagne, but in truth we had paid orange juice prices and got champagne !!! what more can i say.

Hotel very run down. Rooms were like the standard of a cheap and nasty B&B. Beds were falling apart and bed linen was badly torn. Really needs to be redecorated. Don't feel the price was terribly cheap given the fact it was so run down. Great childrens entertainment. Good food - both choice and quality. View from our room was onto the backyard - empty bottles, skips of refuse etc. Having said that it was difficult to see very much as the windows had not been cleaned in about 20 years!
Would only recommend to someone or go back myself if they improved the place drastically.

Dont believe the reviews that say all these nasty things about the Norbreck. My sister and I stayed there and we liked our room, the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. There was nothing wrong with the food. I have stayed in far worse hotels belonging to large chains of hotels which claim to offer a better service than the Norbreck. Count yourself lucky that the fire alarm didnt go off three times in the same night like a certain London hotel which shall remain nameless. Count yourself lucky not to have drunk people sleeping in the hotel corridors. The Norbreck is a nice quiet hotel, perfectly situated not too far and not too close to Blackpool. It was a good base for our stay and not too expensive. I have nothing bad in any way to say about it.

I implore you not to stay in this dump. My family and and I stayed here in Oct 03 and after our 3rd room, yes, 3rd room, we stayed for 5 flea bitten nights, we had no option, we had the builders in our house or we wouldn't have stayed in such a stinking dump, (Tory party where in town so we couldn't get in anywhere else). On top of charging full whack for the foul place it is, they had the cheek to over charge my credit card, they withdrew funds from it for which I hadn't signed. After 5 e-mails and one registered letter, they still choose to ignore my complaint.
Tomorrow, it goes in the hands of a solicitor and the credit card company.Anyone in a similar situation, please mail me.

I stayed at the Norbreck Castle in June and would like to say that a wonderful trip was had by all. The staff in all departments were faultlessly friendly, the food was delicious and the variety of activities left one exhausted. I especially liked the way that there is the quieter, more sedate Conservatory Bar for the older crowd, then the lively and fun Copper Jacks bar for the young or the young at heart.
A brilliant time was had by all and we will be sure to book to come again next year, and hopefully many years into the future.

We spent 4 nights here, in a family room ( double bed and bunks with plenty of room to spare.) A huge hotel which looks horrid from the outside......but the staff were lovely, the facilities were great including use of lovely pool and huge children's play areas. The Boston Stakeout provided a quiet area with superb play ship and excellent food. Our boys loved the informal atmosphere and we enjoyed the typical Blackpool entertainment in the evening , which included stuff for the children too. Breakfast was a huge hot and cold buffet which set us up for the day. It was ?3.90 each way into Blackpool on the tram which was a bit pricey but the beach over the road from the Norbreack was beautiful and empty. We booked directly with the hotel which was a lot cheaper. Would not stay here if it was just me and "him" as it was just slightly jaded round the edges. We will return with our children next year!
