I stayed in this Hotel in April 2004 with my family. I have 2 kids and this is the only one in the city center could accommodate us.
The front desk guy was pretty friendly. He directed us to the good Flamenco show and city tour.
The breakfast was ok, pretty basic and simple.
We stayed on the 4th floor left from elevator and I was pretty surprised by the very spacious room. Bathroom was nice and clean.
Location is priceless. You are in the middle of everything.
One thing you have to be aware. This is a tourist hotel and if you traveling with a lot of luggage, you will have big problem to get to the front doors through the busy pedestrian streets. You will need special card to even drive there from La Ramblas. Also nobody helps you with your staff and there were no carriage as well.

I stayed at the Nouvel Hotel in June 2004. It is true to say that the hotel is not as nice as shown on the web but don't be put off. The hotel
is being refurbished.
The hotel dining room is lovely with beautiful period covings the breakfast was plentlyful and good. There are vending machines in the reception for cold drinks and one for hot drinks, there is no
tea/coffee making facilites in the room.
I stayed on the 3rd floor the bedroom was enormous the bathroom was also big with a shower over the bath and the bath being a jacuzzi. The
room had 2 small balconies. Room 378. I am a heavy sleeper my husband however isn'tand he heard the shops opening up outside.
The staff were pleasant and helpful, the room was cleaned daily and the cleaner couldn't do enough. If you are nice to people they will be nice to you.
If you want a City Centre hotel this hotel is a good choice and will not "break the bank".
When we visit Barcelona again I will not hesitate to book this hotel again and ask for the same room.

We were in Barcelona for a short city break, and the siting of this hotel could not have been better - very central - just along a quiet side street off the Rambla, very close to the P. Catalunya. The city tours, the shops, and restaurants were all right on the doorstep.
The hotel itself was good value - the decor and fittings were attractive, although the first impression at the reception desk was a bit disappointing. The staff were very helpful. There was still a bit of decorating going on on the 4th floor.
Overall, we were very pleased with our stay.

As we love Art Deco and Art Nouveau, this hotel looked very appealing on the web page and in photos, but in person it is rather shabby. The double rooms are not much larger than the bed and for a room with a balcony, couples need to stay in twin beds. The bath was nice with central heating and the micro telly had only German MTV. The location of the Barri Gothic was good, but the street it is not is not particularly nice. The food was dire. The hotel staff was nice, but you felt like you knew they had to make up for the acomodations. It was like a hotel time forgot.

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Nouvel.Don't be put off by the skip outside- the building works didn't affect us at all.It may not be a luxury hotel, but our rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet, with excellent bathrooms.The staff were very helpful and friendly,and the buffet breakfast good.What couldn't be beaten however was the position- perfect for exploring this vibrant ciyt on foot or by public transport being only 50m from the Ramblas and not much further from the transport hub of Pl Catalunya, yet in a quiet pedestrian road.The hotel's restaurant La Luna does an excellent 3 course lunch and a la carte dinner Good valueWould stay at the Nouvel again and recommend it highly to others

My wife and I arrived on the night train from Nice and were able to check-in before 10 am and clean up before seeing Barcelona. The reception guy could not have been friendlier and spoke great English. The room was nice and big and most importantly the a/c worked great.
The location and price were great. The room was very clean but you're getting what you pay for with respect to the amenities and breakfast. We had no problem with noise and would definitely stay here again.
