Omni Austin Hotel in the center of downtown shares a soaring glass atrium with an adjacent office building. Every evening from March to early November, locals and visitors gather to watch the spectacular exodus of 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats from their roosts under the Congress Avenue Bridge. The bridge spans Town Lake and is eight blocks from the hotel. Spectators watch from the bridge, the grassy area below, or from a Town Lake cruise boat. |
