We just returned from this lovely hotel. The staff was very nice, our room was charming, and the hotel location was excellent! We will definitely stay here again.

This hotel may be located in the ugliest building in central Madrid, but otherwise it is a nice and cheap hotel on a central location near the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and the Metro system.
The rooms are well equiped, the staff is freindly and the breakfast is tasty. At a price well below 100 € / night, this is a very good offer!

I visited Madrid with a friend over the summer. We almost had a great time. I liked the hotel. It was fairly simple, but had nothing less of what you need for a short break. I found the staff friendly (although not many speak English in Madrid in general). The room was nice.
Ordinarily sized, clean and cosy. I loved the little window overlooking the road. It's location is absolutely fantastic - in the middle of everything. It is next to the "Teatro de la opera" and near many plazas. It's only a five minute walk to the central shopping area, and there is a wide choice of restaurants, cafes, bars and other forms of entertainment near by. The nearest undeground train station is only a 1-minute walk away. My only disappointment about this hotel was that our room was broken into the night before our departure, and the safe was removed after they found no cash lying around in the room. The staff were not very helpful about helping us get to the police, so that spoilt what would have been a perfect end to a perfect trip. The manageress did contact us when the safe was found, though. All in all, I guess these things can happen anywhere, so my point here is not to bad-mouth the hotel.

I'd asked my travel agent for a clean, inexpensive hotel, in a safe nieghborhood. The Opera was perfect for us. My two girlfriends and I spent five nights there in June. Right across the street from the Opera House. Staff was friendly, informative and very helpful with VERY heavy luggage. We were about four long city blocks from Puerta del Sol and shopping district. We were also about a block away from the Palace. If you're a light sleeper, ask for an inside facing room. It gets quite noisy at night but for me, it only added to the charm of being in Madrid. Who sleeps in Madrid?? Also, FREE internet access. Across the street was a Burger King and McDonalds. For local flavor The Cafe La Traviata was delightful. (Also across the street.) We attended a great Flamenco show at Torres Bermejas restaurante. 29.00 Euro for the show and one drink.
