Palace Hotel is a converted 18th century palace set in landscaped gardens and situated overlooking Lake Como, just 50 metres from Como's historic centre. Guests can enjoy Italian dishes in the traditional style restaurant Antica Darsena, which has an extensive wine cellar and lake views. The Caccato Garden Bar serves cocktails and light Italian snacks such as Parma ham and melon.

Despite the negative reviews about terrible service, we have chosen to stay in Palace Hotel for 3 nights and we have been delighted with our choice. First and the most the great location should be acknoledged - close to shopping and entertainment areas of Como, then the reception staff and other hotel staff were extremely polite and friendly. Moreover, they were always eager to help us and guide us around Como. Our room was very comfortable and spacious enough with a gorgeous view of a Como Lake. All in all, Palace Hotel covered all our expectations and requirements.

Average 4 star hotel in a superb location
After acquiring various mixed reviews about Palace Hotel, we've dared to book the room at this hotel while vising Como. Well, we have been slightly impressed and slightly disappointed. The exterior of the hotel was superb as well as the location - close to transportational links, shopping areas, very restaurants and bars, historical and business distrcts. Our room had a very nice view over the lake with basic requirements, but nothing special. The staff were helpful but sometime we faced a language barrier. Overall, Palace Hotel is an average 4 star hotel in a superb location.

Comfortable and enjoyable place to stay
My husband and I have stayed in Palace Hotel for 5 nights. The hotel itself looks quite imposing. The reception staff welcomed us warmly with a fluent English. Our room was cool and comfortable, the ensuite bathroom was spotless, and wonder of wonders, ample clothes hanging space!
Breakfast each morning was a delight and the hotel laundry service was quick and dependable. We didn't hire a car the whole time we were away, the hotel was just across the road from the water's edge and the ticket office for boat trips a very short walk. The shops and the beautiful cathedral were within 10 minutes' walk and plenty of cafes and gelato available in walking distance. The railway station for the Milan train is just round the corner from the hotel and a short bus ride away is another station from which you can get to Switzerland for an easy day trip. The air conditioning made our stay very comfortable and the staff were unfailingly helpful and agreeable. It was a very nice experience at Palace Hotel - comfortable and enjoyable place to stay while exploring Como.
