cheap but not cheerful...
very dissappointed, i wasnt lookin for the ritz or the hilton hotel but i was expecting a clean hotel. the staff (woman) wer smart and rude wen i asked to change rooms and said they wouldnt let me change, shower was extremely hot and wen u turned on the taps ants came out to join the ants that walked on the bathroom floor.. i also felt that i should hav been told that the building next door was been worked on as we heard the awful noise of a kango and drills drilling through the wall.. it put a big downer on my holiday.. thanks!!

Do NOT go there !
It was absolutely horrible ! According to them, 3stars. According to me and a lot of other tourists: 0 stars.
Here is what I have found when I have entered the hotel:
- the door to the room could be opened with difficulty and I thought it would fall on me.
- the room was extremely dirty: the walls had spots of different spilled drinks and other things I do not even want to remember. There was mold all over the walls, the light did not work, the towels were dirty and the bed had holes in it and it was very uncomfortable.
- the room was extremely small and the walls were thin and everything from the other rooms could be heard.
- the reception staff was not polite
- the bathroom was extremely dirty and I thought I would get a disease from there. I still wonder...
- the bath was 1 x 1.5 meters where there was the toilet, an extremely small sink and a shower...umm...place...cause it cannot be called a cabin.
- there was no closet in the room. There was a shelf and you had to put your clothes there, behind a curtain.
- the entire bathroom looked as if it hasn't been cleaned for at least 5 years.
I have a bitter taste after visiting London because of this hotel and I would recommend you pay 20-40 pounds more per night to stay in a decent hotel. This one was just HORRIBLE !!!

In desperate need of cleaning
Since the Pembury Hotel is fairly cheap, I didn’t expect luxury, nice decoration nor a big room. I did expect a simple, clean place. It turned out to be the dirtiest place I have ever stayed at, including (but not limited to) a heavily stained and soiled carpet, chair and walls, a cracked mirror and window, a kettle with stale water inside whose heating element was covered in a black substance, specks of toothpaste on the bathroom walls, brownish grime on the doorknob of the rickety wardrobe and on the remote control of a TV that basically had a round screen for the dirt around the corners, a stale smell even when the window was open, etc., etc. It was gross.
The staff was not unfriendly but of no help except w/r/t exchanging the kettle (not for one tat would have merited the word ‘clean’, though). No cleaning personel availeble, I actually bought rubber gloves and a disinfectant cleaner and cleaned as much as possible, but it was an utterly unpleasant place. In addition, the traffic noise was enormous (a main road outside and simple glass windows) and doors slamming inside the hotel throughout the night.
Apparently the Pembury Hotel has other wings and maybe they contain decent rooms, but I will definitely not return, nor can I recommend it to anyone to whom cleanliness is important or who is planning to get some sleep in London.

Comfortable & affordable hotel
This is a lovely hotel located close to Finsbury Park. It takes only 15 minutes to get to the city center thanks to excellent public transportation links. The hotel has clean and comfortable rooms for affordable prices. The breakfast the hotel offers is adequate. Pembury Hotel is ideal if you are seeking for comfortable and affordable accomodation in London and don't mind being a little bit away from the city center.

Budget hotel with nice location
The negative reviews posted about Pembury Hotel are rather harsh. It’s not Hilton or Ritz Hotel, Pembury Hotel is a very economic type of accommodation, and relatively providing the service corresponding to the rating. As for us personally, we were looking for a cheap accommodation and convenient location and found Pembury Hotel to suit our needs. The room was outdated in décor but was fine to crash after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast was fine for this type of hotel and hotel’s personnel were nice and even gave us a chance to choose a room. Overall, Pembury Hotel would be a nice choice of the ones who are on a tight budget but with location wise in mind.

Pembury did worth the value we paid
Pembury Hotel is one of these hotels that you would want to chose due to its convenient location and cheap accommodation. We thought that we really got what we paid for. The location was very convenient, just 5 mins on foot from Finsbury Park tube. The hotel is located on Seven Sisters Road which seems to be a quite busy road, but since our room was looking to the parking lot, noise wasn't an issue for us. As for the room itself, it was very tiny and needed to be refreshed definitely, but everything worked fine. The breakfast was very plain. The service staff was nice. Overall, we had a nice time in London, Pembury hotel provided an excellent location and cheap accommodation and did worth the value we paid.
