Despite the fact that the square in front of the hotel was being renovated, this hotel looked clean and welcoming, which turned out to be true. The location is perfect since it is right at the river and just a short and nice stroll to the double-decked bridge which one uses to cross over to the Port Wine houses. The busy city center lies at a comfortable distance - not too close, that is. I would definitely stay there when I go back. |

The hotel itself is a bit dated, but request a room in front and you will forget all about it once you throw open the balcony doors a catch your first view of the Port houses across the river....breathtaking! ...and, all just a short walk away! You are here for the location. The staff is friendly, and fluent in English. We enjoyed the entire "port experience" so much last summer, we are returning again this July with family. Another "must see" is the Vintage House Hotel - less than 2 hour drive up the Duoro River Valley; one of the more scenic drives we have taken, and, one of the finer places we have stayed! |

We stayed for 2 nights, in a corner room facing the river and the square. The room was excelent, and the view just great, overlooking the Port wine lodges.
It is not far from the other sights in Porto.
We would defintively stay here again. |

this is the best hotel in porto in the very best location : the city suffers of a lot of works in progress but here you are in the heart of the old harbour with a bunch of great local bars and restaurants facing the great Douro river is a great experience (must ask for a room overlooking the river) ;moreover the staff is friendly and professional and the hotel is charming ,antique and elegant but not too formal . Great beakfast . I will go again !! |
