Best for tourists
This is the best hotel in St. Petersburg for tourism purposes. Very elegant, clean, safe. The cream of monuments and buildings are literally at 5 minute walking distance, and Nevsky Avenue is just around the corner. Small lobby and very spacious guest rooms for European standards. But, it is designed as a tourist hotel. The business services (conference rooms, internet...) are so-so.
You are at 5 minute walk from the Hermitage and Neva River, and at 3 minutes walk from the St. Isaac Cathedral. You don't need metro nor taxis to move around. However, the main business area is exactly at the opposite end of Nevsky Avenue, so, you will need a taxi (5 - 10 min) or metro (1 - 2 stops) to get there.
The entrance lobby is small and you have to open the street door by hand (not great if you have luggage). But, the rooms are big and real 4 stars. The beds are comfy. The bathrooms are huge, my wife loves it, since it is big, marbled, with a huge mirror, and heated floor in winter. The breakfast room is in the first floor at the opposite end, but it is well indicated.
You are at literally 5 minute walk from the main buildings and monuments. 10 minutes walk to the metro. It is 2 - 3 km from main business area, which can be reached through the metro or minibuses that run through the hotel street.
Everything expected from a 4 star hotel. Couple of security guards 24 hours downstairs, concierges, 3 elevators, TV, spacious bathroom with all kinds of kits and shampoos, plenty of towels, semi-expensive transfers to the airport, and an ATM inside the hotel! Oh, no tea making facilities...
Guest rooms are big, clean. The decoration is simple but elegant. There are plenty of toiletries, soaps, sewing kits...that are renewed every day. And 2 bottles of mineral water every day in the room (that is a big help!). The water from the tap is filtered and clean (compared to other hotels with brownish water). Breakfast room can get quite crowded in summer, and you will have to wait 5 - 7 minutes to be seated. They should expand it.
Plenty of shops, 24 h food shops, cafes, restaurants of all prices...Easy and safe area.
