Hotel Le Meridian Phoenicia Valleta...
One of the best hotels my wife and i have stayed in .The phoenicia is a must if you like to be pampered ,a vey well ran hotel at a very good price. It has a brilliant location for exploring the whole island with the bus terminus a few steps away.We will be back for sure in the near future. |

My fiancee and I thought we'd spend the last night of our vacation at the Phoenicia in March 2004 -- when it was time to go, we weren't ready to leave!
The Phoenicia is a lovely hotel with an ideal location. Situated immediately opposite Malta's main bus terminal in Floriana, the Phoenicia is a short bus ride away from anyplace you'd like to go. It's fun to sit and enjoy the hotel's afternoon tea service, explore the lovely gardens, or take a walk through beautiful (and often overlooked) Floriana.
Our room was beautifully appointed, although a bit small. We found an outstanding deal on the internet and booked the room for less than half of the normal rate, so no complaints here. The hotel staff provided excellent service, and consistently handled our requests with a smile.
The one and only problem I could imagine with the Phoenicia is that it's pretty far removed from all of the restaurants in Sliema and St. Julian's. Unless you choose to dine at the hotel, you'll need a taxi or bus for dinner. While Valletta has dozens of cafes for lunch, few establishments are open in the evening. Despite this caveat, we'd certainly stay at the Phoenicia again! Even if you can't find a special rate, this hotel is well worth a little extra. |

We stayed here for the first few nights of our honeymoon, this hotel is special, the entrance foyer and atrium take you back to the glorios days of the thirties, marble everywhere, attentive staff, friendly and well turned out. The cocktail bar is a welcome retreat at the end of a days sisghtseeing in Valetta. They even organised tickets for us to go to the hypogeum, (the most amazing archeological site ive been to). Avoid this hotel at your peril, its well worth a stay! |

I agree with the other reviews...a great hotel at a great price. Exudes old world charm, fantastic gardens and pool, and centrally located for sight-seeing in Valetta...what more could you ask for? |

We have stayed at the Phoenicia for three years now. We go to Malta every year to get some sun in February or March.
The hotel is wonderful, a period piece and you feel as if you've been taken back to the 1930s. We always have a harbour view room which has breathtaking views of half the island. The bathrooms are elegant and glamorous and the gardens are beautiful. The staff are amazingly friendly and remember us every time we return.
The best thing of all though is the food. We have always stayed on a bed and breakfast basis so the cost has never been something we've even thought about. Every kind of bread and pastry you can think of, lots of cold meats, cheese and fruit, great coffee and you can even have a glass of Buck's Fizz if you want one!
It's a terrific hotel and well worth every penny spent on a comfortable stay there. |

Our 5 nights here were a good experience. The tiled rooms are a bit dated, but tidy and clean. Good A/C. Lounge area is lovely. Staff is a bit stiff and service was spotty at times-forgotten room service items, etc. Location is unbeatable-steps away from buses and central Valetta.
Heated pool is wonderful, nestled right beside ancient fortifications.
Valetta location definitely superior to tourist strips in St. Julian's and Sliema. |
