We stayed in this lovely hotel for just one night when visiting Florence. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location was great, not far from train station but a safe area, with a short walk to main attractions. Room was lovely and clean. I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel.

Stayed here July 11th, 12th and 13th 2004.
Very charming Hotal. Staff is very nice . Ask them where to eat. They gave us great places to eat. Room was very big but we did share with another couple. It had one king bed, one twin bed and a pull out bed. I wish they could have at least had another twin bed in the room instead of the pull out bed. But it was okay. The bathroom was very nice and had lots of room. Breakfast was great. It is next to the train station. There is a laundry mat down the street a block or two and a place to use the internet next to it. The internet place is across from the hostle and you can use the phones in there to call home for 15 cents a minute. Which we did. Florence was our favorite palce to stay. The city is calmer and we loved the hotel.

This is a very charming hotel in a good location. It is near the train station (which has its positives and negatives - a little seedy at night). The rooms are really big though and we had our one & only king sized bed here. The bathrooms are big (compared to most Euro hotels). I would definitely stay here again next time. They have great breakfast and excellent cappucino!!

The Porta Faenza was recommended to me by colleagues from Wake Forest University, who bring a group of students there every summer. We needed one large room for five (me, my wife and three daughters). The bilingual desk clerk was very accommodating in booking and confirming the reservation by phone. And the hotel -- just a short walk from the train station -- exceeded our expectations in comfort, cleanliness, hospitality and convenience. We even had a lovely view of Giotto's Tower and the dome of the Medici Chapel from our spacious third-floor room. We stayed six nights and have nothing but praise for the hotel and its staff. The location was the best. A cafe next door on the left, an internet cafe on the right. Two blocks from the outdoor markets.
Three blocks from the Medici Chapel. 10 minute walk to the Duomo. This is an excellent choice for a family.

We stayed in this hotel in December 2002, found it on the Internet for a great price. The hotel, located walking distance from the train station and reasonably close to most monuments, was convenient with regards to location. The room was very clean, quiet, modern, nicely furnished and comfortable. The continental breakfast was quite decent offering fruits, cereals, breads, meats, cheeses, juices, fresh espresso and cappucino! The staff was helpful and nice. We only had two complaints: 1) Due to the new central heating system we were unable to control the temperature for ourselves and it was a bit chilly in our room, and 2) The European shower head issue- one must shower while sitting in the tub and there is no curtain; kind of a drag considering it was a bit cold. Overall, we recommend this hotel and would certainly stay on our next visit.P.S. For a tasty, authentic and affordable dinner just a couple of doors down try Trattoria Enzo e Piero (Via Faenza 105); also one of the best tiramisu's we've ever had!
