Pearl of Finnish Architecture
This is a pearl in the rich choice of Finnish hotels and a masterpiece of Art Nouveau architecture. Insist on a room in the historical building and enjoy the lobby, the carefully decorated staircases, the brit-style library. the well kept ambiente of the rooms combining blue textile with dark brown furniture and the view down to the rapids and their beautiful natural surroundings. The layout of the rooms in the close by convention center might be more practical, but they lack the atmosphere which is key reason for visiting Imatra Rikshotellet. (only 6 km from the Russian border).
Service in the historical restaurant is first class, breakfast unforgettable. For dinner we selected a delicious fish menu named after Finnish Marshall Mannerheim and the Beef Stroganoff of excellent quality together with carefully selected French wines. We will surely return to this lovely place.
