Contrary to Frommers, who rated the Hilton as the best htel, I think The Regent Petit France easily outclasses it. I have stayed at the Hilton, the Sofitel and various others but would take the Regent always as first preference (but sometimes it's full due to EC meetings if I can't book early enough). I noted however that the service in the weekends, when staying there privately, seems to be a lit less than during the week. Rooms are really wonderful and always a suprise in terms of decoration and art.

Just returned from 3 nights at the Regent Petite France. It is located in the heart of the Petite France region of the city, which we found absolutely charming. Particularly liked the hanging flower baskets on many window ledges and even canal railings. The hotel staff was generally very helpful and courteous. Rooms vary considerably, but our 2 rooms (the bottom category) were fairly large and quite comfortable.
The restaurant had limited fare and was quite costly, but there is no shortage of nice restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The breakfast buffet that was included in the price was adequate -- nothing fancy. On nice days you can take a book onto the beautiful 2nd-floor terrace. The Cathedral is roughly a 10-15 minute walk.
