Using stockholm a la carte, we received very good rates to stay here.
It is central, right in the middle of the shopping district, cinemas and a short walk to the old town. Breakfast was good, rooms are a bit small but very well equipped and quiet, if you request a room on the inner courtyard side. |

I stayed at the Rica City Hotel for six days in May 2002. It is extremely convenient--just a few steps from Hotorget and within two blocks of major department stores, right in the middle of the central business district. I originally asked for an inside room because I wanted quiet, and was told that the only available room facing the atrium was very hot. I decided to try it, and immediately decided they were right. They immediately offered another room, putting me in an upper floor room facing the (dead-end) street. I found that it was plenty quiet, even for a light sleeper like myself. The breakfast served in the atrium restaurant was temendous--my only problem was exercising restraint from gorging myself. The rooms were small by American standards and not particularly charming but perfectly adequate, clean, modern etc. I was able to set up my laptop and work there in perfect comfort, didn't worry about security etc. I would definitely be happy to stay there again, but would suggest trying the other Rica hotel around the corner--built in a converted 19th century department store-- first. It looks a lot more charming, but was fully booked when I was there. |

I have just returned from Sweden and a 4 night stay at the Rica City Hotel Stockholm. The trip was planned very last minute and I spent a lot of time trying to find a decent hotel at a reasonable rate. This hotel was not my first choice, but when I discovered that there were few choices available, I booked it based on other reviews here. I was not disappointed and would recommend this hotel to others traveling to Stockholm.
I was with my 7 year old daughter and I wanted something convenient to the Central Station as we were transiting though there a number of times in our comings and goings. Also, I wanted to be close to the sites. The location was perfect. A 10 minute walk from the station and perhaps 15 to old town. The 47 bus bus stops nearby and was quite convenient for us, as well as the metro line, with two stops within blocks. Great shopping, a lot of places to eat and a movie theater were all within blocks as well.
The lobby was a bit strange - small and dark, and this made me a little nervous about the room. But it was bright, extremely clean, and well appointed, with mini bar, in room safe, hairdryer, and REALLY comfortable beds. True, it was a little small, but we didn't mind.
I would recommend requesting a room away from the street, since the exit from the movie theater is literally across the street (which was good for us when we saw a movie that went a little late for my daughter!) but this creates a lot of noise late at night. Also deliveries in the morning were loud.
We had one problem, we returned for one night before leaving Sweden and the hotel was oversold (in fact the entire city was sold out, due to a marathon) They found a room right down the street at their sister property the Rica City Hotel Kungsgatan, which I will also review. They were very appologetic for the inconvenience and made it up to me wih the offer of an open mini bar and a light meal. |

Very well located hotel, good breakfast and rooms, with air conditioned.
Very good value for money. Hard to get better in Stockholm, except luxury.
Stayed there just a few days ago. |
