Location, Climate
Rovaniemi is a city and the administrative capital and commercial centre of Finland's northernmost province, Lapland. It is located about 5 km south of the Arctic Circle and between the hills of Ounasvaara and Korkalovaara. Because of its location on the Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi has a subarctic climate with short, mild summers and very cold and snowy winters.

It is known that there has been continuous settlement in the Rovaniemi area since the Stone Age. Periodic clearance of new land for agriculture and the practice of slash-and-burn cultivation began around 750–530 B.C.

Everyone comes to Rovaniemi for mostly one thing: The Santa. Santa Claus Village, is a very well known attraction in the city. You could have the chance too meet the Santa himself. Transportation
The city center itself is very small, about one kilometer. You can reach everything inside the city easily by just walking. However there are some historic and touristic attractions worth seeing are located farther away from the city center and you may want to use a transportation network such as taxis, rental cars or just buses. There are several bus companies in the city providing transportation to local areas in the city. However it is sometimes hard to find even on weekdays and summers. And remember that there is no available bus services at night time.
