Jun 26, 2011 If you are looking for an ideal holiday destination in Hong Kong, the Royal Plaza Hotel is a perfect place for you to reside and explore the surrounding areas.

* Please note that Royal Plaza do not allow name changes on already confirmed bookings, therefore if names need to be changed the bookings should be cancelled and re booked, higher rates may apply.

* The hotel will carry out works on the guest rooms, restaurants, health club, ballroom, function rooms, driveway and lobby from March 2012 until March 2013. Works will be carried out in stages so small areas will be affected at a time.

LOCATION

Royal Plaza Hotel is within 1 km of Yuen Po Bird Market, Flower Market, and Grand Century Place. It is also within 10 km of Mong Kok Computer Centre.

Fantastic, great location with great service!

when I booked this hotel Iw as concerned that it was a little out of the way but in fact I found it to be terrifically located. Its located within a shopping mall complex with its own entrance and its very secure as you can only access the rooms via the lifts which only work by pushing in your room key card into the slot and then selecting your floor. I found the service to be courteous throughout. I did have issues with noisy teenagers in the room below - I called the front desk and they sent a floor manager up to investigate. They then had a word with the miscreants and told us to inform them if it happened again. Well after 20 mins the crazy noise started up again (we're talking hooligans jumping off beds and screaming and shouting below, turns out they were teenage kids who had been placed in one room whilst their parents stayed in another) I called the front desk again and we were immediately upgraded to a higher floor on the 17th floor where it was blissfully quiet. The pool is lovely and is on the 8th floor next to the health club. The breakfast was more than adequate however after 9 days was getting very monotonous. The only downside to this hotel I felt was that the breakfast could be improved upon, to include more of a Chinese selection. There was only one type of steamed bun and one type of dumpling every day (pork dumplings) - there was also congee though, and noodle soup including laksa, vegetable curry, mixed fried rice, eggs benedict, toast, bacon, beans and sausages, and a continental selection of salads, dressings, smoked salmon and cereals, yoghurt and pastry so everyone would be pretty much catered for. However the juice was not fresh but comes from a carton. However that didnt bother me too much as tended to have the jasmine tea every morning. Breakfast was included in my room rate, which after including the 10% off discount code from otel.com's facebook page, made my 9 night stay here exceptional value for money! You can walk to Mongkok MTR via the footbridge from the Mall (just go into the mall and follow the signs on the ceiling you cant go wrong) and its around a 10min walk, with numerous signposted exits for the different markets and streets. The great thing about staying here is that its linked to the MTR line and also the Rail line so I go tthe rail to Kowloon Tong where theres a great big shopping plaza called Festival Walk (exit C) and a brilliant Ice rink. I actually enrolled for lessons every day with an instructor William who was brilliant and even got me doing crossovers by Day 5! Lessons were 725 HKD each for semiprivate halfhour lessons, minimum of 2 people in the group. I ate at Jasmine restaurant and Kings Palace Noodle and Congee place at the Festival Walk - go for the shrimp wonton noodles, they were 42 HKD and a bargain and soooo tasty! Now if you exit the hotel from the main lobby entrance and turn left you will get to the closest MTR stop which is Prince Edward. It's around a 5-10min walk max. By the tube there is a Chinese Herbalist Doctor and a great music shop called Harmony Central (108-118 Prince Edward Road West). Its on the first floor and sells authentic Chinese Instruments and has a great selection of traditional Chinese music CDs which I bought a load of. They range from 30HKD - 98HKD, so not expensive at all. There were a few weddings that took place whilst I was staying here and I only noticed as I saw the wedding party downstairs in the lobby, so it looks like its one of the nicest hotels in the area. I noticed a lot of foreign and Chinese guests here so I can truly say its international. Service is very good here and anytime I had a problem it was resolved immediately. All in all, I found the hotel to be fantastic for all my needs and would definitely stay here again when I next come to Hong Kong. There's so much nearby and Mongkok is brilliant with loads of shops and services - the same as you find in TST area (where I have stayed before) but def less touristy.
