Nice, historical building, friendly service...
This hotel is a gem in Pisa! I stayed there for 3 days and enjoyed the time i spent there. The hotel is nestled in a historical building which was a monestry formerly and it is located in the Fossabanda district of Pisa which is a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of the touristic parts yet it is not far away from the old city with its famaus Pisa Tower and Piazza di Miracoli. I stayed in a single room which was cosy and comfortable. Bathroom was small but clean. My room had a view of the 13th century courtyard which was nice. The hotel serves a rich breakfast in the colomned courtyard which is very impressive. The atmosphere is warm, staff is friendly. I would recommend this hotel is you are looking for a place to stay in Pisa. |

Basic hotel with character
Santa Croce In Fossabanda Hotel is certainly something different - it is situated in a converted monastery and oozes character. We stayed in the hotel for one night while passing through Pisa. The hotel felt a bit like a hall of residence due to the layout, but was comfortable nonetheless. Our room was sparsely decorated, but had everything we needed, including air conditioning. We were slightly unfortunate to be situated in a room next to a couple with a noisy baby and felt that the sound proofing could be better. The staff were helpful and spoke good English. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk to the town centre, and about 30 minutes walk to the leaning tower. The airport can be easily reached from the hotel by taxi (about 10 minutes ride). All in all, very interesti |

Pleasantly surprised
As with most hotels in Europe, Santa Croce In Fossabanda Hotel was basic, but clean and comfortable. The twin room was spacious, and clean, as was the bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities were also provided. We booked the hotel primarily on location, and as a result were not expecting much, but we pleasantly surprised. We flew in late to Pisa, and were leaving the next day for Florence, so we wanted a location close to the Airport, and within a reasonable distance of the leaning tower and the Cathedral. The Hotel is a 13th century monastery that was converted to a hotel a few years ago. It is set around a courtyard, and the rooms are the old cells that the monks would have used. The restoration and conversation was done with great taste and a lot of the original details such as frescos, mosaics and carvings have been retained, but the hotel has a very modern touch. Breakfast was enjoyable. The hotel was located only a 10 min taxi ride from the Airport, 25 min walk to Leaning Tower and other tourist places. Overall, Santa Croce In Fossabanda was very impressing and enjoyable place to start our Europe trip. |

Great hotel, Loved it!!
Very nicely renovated hotel with good sized rooms with comfy beds and good bathrooms. Very basic in keeping with th style of the monestray but in walking distance to town and the train station for a quick trip into Florence.
Staff were good sometimes but depended on who you got.
Nice fresh breakfast. Highly recommended. |
