Historic Skyscraper
The Torni is the only skyscraper in central Helsinki and the view from the Atelje bar on 14th floor is smashing. Business people will appreciate the location close to the railway and bus station as well as to Mannerheim Street and Esplanaadi (harbour).
We stayed 4 nights in an Art Deco room kept in black and white, which was well sized, with a view on Kalevankatu. The bathroom was rather small, still we found everything we needed. The bed offered a choice of 3 pillows from hard to soft and large to small.
Breakfast was rich and healthy, with Karjalan piirakkat as local speciality, a selection of fish dishes, ham, eggs, sausages, fruits, vegetables.etc. Omelettes came with maple sirup and small desserts changing every day.
The negative side: on arrival reception stated that our booking was cancelled. Obviously the were overbooked and tried to get rid of some guests. They could however produce no proof about the so-called cancellation, so eventually we got all what we wanted, including a free drink in the bar with the view ….

Comfortable family hotel...
My husband, our one year old daughter and I just got back from a nice and very comfortable stay at Sokos Torni Hotel. The hotel has a spacious reception area. The reception service itself is fast and effective. Our room was a fairly large room (compared to Scandinavian standards) clean and comfortable. We had a comfortable double bed and the baby cot we asked while booking was ready in the room. It was good quality. The room was very functional and quiet. Food at the restaurant was delicious. We had a pleasant stay at Sokos Torni Hotel and would recommend it to the families and to everyone who enjoy calm and quiet places. |
