Location, Climate
Spain is a diverse country and a sovereign state of the European Union located in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. The country is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea; to the north and north east by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the northwest and west by the Atlantic Ocean and Portugal. There are three climatic zones. The Mediterranean climate with dry and warm summers. Somewhere it gets more extreme, hot in summer and cold in winter. The semiarid climate, in the southeastern quarter, with the dry season extending beyond the summer. The oceanic climate, located in north quarter, winter and summer temperatures are influenced by the ocean, and have no seasonal drought.
Brief History
There are records of the Iberians, Basques and Celts were settled in the Iberian peninsula. Then it came under the rule of Rome. With the Middle Ages it came under Germanic rule but then, it was conquered by Moorish invaders from North Africa. It ends with Columbus’ reaching the Americas. For 350 years since its establishment in 1492, Spain held the strongest leading standard currency traded throughout the known world including the Americas.
