Location, Climate
St Petersburg is a beautiful city in Russia and is situated along the river Neva and on the tip of Gulf of Finland. The climate in St Petersburg is humid continental meaning that summers are short and humid while winters are cold and wet. Brief History
The city was discovered by Russian Emperor Peter the Great in 1703 and became Russia's imperial capital between 1732 to 1918. Its name was changed from St Petersburg to Petrograd in 1914, and then was called Leningrad in 1924 before finally being named St Petersburg again in 1991.

The fastest and cheapest way to get around St Petersburg is by subway and this city has one of the largest railway systems in the country. Buses and trolleys are also affordable and efficient
