Murren is awesome! The Eiger is a nice, very traditional older style hotel. Rooms were small, but very clean and updated. Direct Eiger mountain view from balcony has got to be unmatched! Bed was great. Bath was updated and nice. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Would stay there again, or try the Anfi which looked nice, but balconies there were not direct view of magestic mountains - their balconies were angled. |

My wife and I spent three nights at the Eiger in mid-September 2003. We decided to splurge and took a suite described as having "a wonderful view of Eiger, Moench and Juengfrau". Well it did have a wonderful view and much more. There were two rooms in the suite - a moderate size bedroom with those great tilt-and-turn windows on two sides and a living room, off of which was a deck facing Eiger, Moench and Juengfrau. There were also two bathrooms. One had a shower, a sink and a toilet; the other similarly equiped but with a huge soaker tub and a stand alone toilet room. Both bathrooms had granite countertops. The living room also had windows on two sides and had a stereo system, complete with CDs, along with the expected TV which we did not use. We did make us of the classical CDs while sipping Champagne in our room.
All of the room was absolutely spotless, up to legendary Swiss standards. The hotel's breakfast, included in the room rate, was superb as well. Wonderful Swiss breads, cheeses, air dried meats and homemade Birchermuesli. We ate dinner there twice and were wowed both times.
There is an opportunity to have dinner included in the hotel rate for an additional amount. Those fixed menus did not look to us to be anywhere near as creative as ordering from the menu. Order dinner on your own if you stay. Muerren is a very special place, as beautiful as one can imagine...a paradise for hikers and walkers. The Hotel Eiger rounded it all off. My wife and I are very fussy, demanding and particular guests. We highly recommend the Hotel Eiger! |

We stayed at the Hotel Eiger for eight nights at the beginning of July and received a warm welcome the minute we entered the building. The room was clean and tidy and the view across to the Eiger was breathtaking.
The 5 course dinner in the restaurant was good and the waitresses very friendly.
Murren is a beautiful village that hasn't been spoiled by becoming over commercialized like Grindelwald. The hotel swimming pool is rather small but there is an excellent pool at the sports centre just 5 minutes walk.
The mountain walks from the village are well marked and suitable for all abilities.
Overall, a great hotel, friendly staff and a stunning location. |
