Really enjoyed our stay in June 04. Our room was large and extremely comfortable with the view from the balcony being out of this world! my only grumble would be the lack of coffee making facilities in the rooms. We ate in both the brasserie and the Panoramic restaurant and found the food to be excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel in fact will be going again in august.

We also booked this hotel as it was rated 5 star. Although the hotel is situated on a beautiful lake and the staff were quite accomodating, the hotel itself was definately NOT 5 star material. The decor in the rooms was 'strange' and the furniture was tired and in need of TLC (really dirty carpets). The common areas were light and bright, but again were in need of a facelift (elevators were equally as bad). This is not a romantic retreat as there seemed to be thousands of children everywhere you turned. The restaurant had a set menu (65 Euro P/P) which turned us off! Overall this was the most disappointing hotel on our travels of Ireland!

The one thing you can neither argue with or put a price on is the majestic view from the rooms---truly wonderful. However the rest of the hotel is decidely average---rooms large, clean and comfortable but no touches of the little luxuries I expect of five stars. The public areas are very dated and badly in need of a style update---very faded 70s style. Overall the hotel has no ambience and definitely no Irish soul, which is a major reason I enjoy Ireland so much. Both staff and clients looked morose and the Irish staff seemed to have had their innate Irishness trained out of them. Very Teutonic in atmosphere and very disappointing. Food was very ordinary. Spa/beauty rooms very old fashioned. Definitely not worthy of its five stars unless the views are all you care about. After 3 nights we moved on to a B&B where we were given the real Irish welcome! Would give the Europe a miss. Try an authentic Irish experience in a B&B downtown and save tons of money too!

visited Hotel Europe on August 19th. Absolutely fantastic! The staff were really nice and helpful...without being intrusive! The room was immaculate, with great attention given to detail. it was extremely comfortable and spacious. The hotel and its surrounds are breathtakingly beautiful. peace and tranquility prevailed. the food was absolutely delicious. faultless. will look forward to another visit as soon as I can make it!

Just spent three days in the Hotel Europe, The Hotel has one of the most fansatic settings of any hotel we have ever the stayed in. The staff are most helpfull and friendly. Rooms are good (Make sure to go the little extra for one with a view of the lake.) and great food. All in all a wonderful experience.

We arrived at the Europe with a group and loved it from the time we drove in. Obviously it has undergone a major renovation as the entire hotel is light, clean and airy with beautiful furnishings and wonderful gardens. The staff is warm and friendly - just what we imagined them to be. They definately represent the Irish people well!!! Our farewell dinner was amazing and the extras provided by the management and hotel staff were above expectations! The little extras in the rooms were nice as well --- The only thing I would have liked to have in my room is a hot water pot to make tea in the afternoon ---- 8 Euros for a pot of tea from room service got to be quite pricey by the end of the week. I didn't even mention the amazing views of the lakes from every hotel room!!! I loved it and would certainly go back!
