Surprisingly rubbish

Arrived and discovered room was right above the function suite, with function in progress. Floor was bouncing in rhythm to the music. Fortunately reception said though very full managed to find another room for us to stay in. Room was ok, facilities sparse, bed lovely and big but very uncomfortable. As for breakfast, we didn't realise there was a episode of faulty towers being rehearsed, we had to laugh as it was so bad, and the food was increditably disappointing and poor quality. Don't know how they got such a high rating for its quality. The best bit of the stay apart from leaving was the doormen, both of whom we saw were extremely helpful and pleasant. Will not stay again.

Would definitely pay another visit to The George Hotel

I have read a lot of negative reviews about The George Hotel so needless to say I was very anxious about what I would find upon checking in. I had reserved a contemporary room with a river view. While the view of the city is beautiful, I would guess the river is almost a mile away, so the "river view" is a little bit of a stretch, but lovely nonetheless. The staff was very kind and helpful. My room was meticulous, clean and contemporary designed, and the bed was sooo comfortable. The breakfast was nice, constantly refilled. The location of The George is also fantastic--many great restaurants/pubs nearby and within easy walking distance of the old town. I would definitely pay another visit to the George Hotel.
