The Oldest Existing Hotel in Berkshire Reading...

The Mercure George Hotel is known to be the oldest existing building in Reading, dating back to at least as far as 1423. It was one of the major coaching inns between London and the West Country in the 18th century, and it still retains many of its wonderful original Coaching Inn features, including Tudor Archways and a very attractive Cobbled stone courtyard.

LOCATION

The Mercure George Hotel is located in the King Street Berkshire area of Reading. The Hotel is only a 5 minute walk from Reading’s railway station.

Directions:

∙ By Road Junction 11, M4, A33 to city center, follow signs to The Oracle shopping center. Secure car parking is available in The Holy Brook car park. Walk through the shopping center towards Minster Street. The George Hotel is located opposite The Oracle exit.

∙ By Rail Reading Central Railway Station is 5 minutes walk from the Hotel.

∙ By Air Heathrow airport is only 35 miles from Reading.

∙ RailAir RailAir is a frequent, convenient, luxury coach service between Reading Railway Station and Heathrow Airport (terminals 1, 2 and 3).The service runs daily, 17 hours a day, with departures every 20 minutes Monday to Friday daytime, and every 30 minutes Saturday and Sunday daytime with a frequent evening service until 2307 (last from Heathrow).
