The Star Inn Hotel at Alfriston is reputed to be one of the country's oldest Inns. Built in the 13th century it's first recorded refurbishment was in 1450! Since that time it has seen many changes, and today offers its guests a unique blend of oak beams, open fires, intimate atmosphere and traditional hospitality alongside the modern comforts of its well appointed guest accommodation.
Dating from 1345 which makes it one of England's oldest hostelries, the half-timbered Star Inn was fully refurbished in 1998 and is in Alfriston's centre, ideal for the South Down's Trail, opera at Glyndebourne or the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry. Facilities include a restaurant for traditional meals and a bar serving snacks. Local activities include golf and horseriding. |

The South Downs is an area of outstanding natural beauty and is ideal for exploring by foot, bike or car. The South Downs Way, from Eastboure to Winchester runs through the village of Alfriston and right past the front door of The Star Inn.
Alfriston Clergy House, this historic property sits beside the St Andrews Church & the River Cuckmere a small but beautiful house with a pretty 'Cottage Garden' and stunning views. This was the first ever property purchased by the National Trust.
Drusillas Zoo Park is ideal place to visit for all the family with over 60 animal attractions that brings you face to face with nature as never before.
Eastbourne-The Sunshie Coast offers something for everybody. Traditional seaside entertainment with Victorian Pier and bandstand with thriving town centre of shops for all tastes just a short walk away. |
