Nice hotel in good location
I stayed at the Thon Hotel Opera for a two day business trip to Oslo. The Thon hotel is a nice new hotel - directly connected to the main rail station. So when you arrive at the airport, you take the fast train to Oslo (30 Minutes) and you are just 2 walking minutes away from the Thon. The Thon is a nice hotel, convenient and elegant. The rooms are small but nicely equipped. I was missing nothing. Everything was there what you need on such a trip. The staff was very helpful and friendly. On the other hand the hotel is located at downtown and you can walk through Oslo which is so much fun. The only complain would be disorganized breakfast time, even though the rich selection was offered. Otherwise, personally I would definitely choose Thon Hotel Opera for my base in my next trip to Oslo.

great business oriented hotel
I stayed at the Thon Opera for four nights at the beginning of October. Thon Opera is a new business oriented hotel with basic, new efficient rooms on the smaller side. I chose it because I was looking for the place to be close to the train station as a jump up point and the location was wonderful. Right out of the south (harbor side) exit of the train station across a walkway to the hotel. The entire hotel staff was friendly. The complimentary internet in lobby was a bonus. I found the breakfast fine and it really met all of my needs. So I would highly recommend Thon Opera if you are concerned about the comfort with close proximity to train station.
