| One of Skye's most elegant hotels. |
|
Toravaig House Hotel is a newly launched, traditional country house hotel with a contemporary flair. This is arguably one of Skye's most elegant hotels.
Toravaig House Hotel on the Isle of Skye was bought by Kenneth Gunn and Anne Gracie in December 2003. Today able to be described as a boutique hotel, one uniquely with a yacht for guest use, and especially popular with the 25 – 50 age group, it re-opened in 2004 following a foundation-to-roof redesign by Anne and partner Ken - who had for the previous 7 years been Master of the 5-star small cruise ship MV Hebridean Princess.
The end result is a romantic quite delightful small country house hotel in Skye, where contemporary chic mixes with luxury touches and wonderful attention to detail.
Anne & Captain Kenneth feel they've performed a wee miracle at Toravaig House in a relatively short time. The house and magnificent landscaped gardens are now complete (although there are more plans to develop this property) and the views over to Knoydart are quite spectacular. Just add to this the luxury yacht SOLUS, for the exclusive use of hotel residents - in the responsible care of ship’s master Kenneth, and you might just have what some would describe as the perfect retreat.
The hotel restaurant is quickly developing a reputation for high-quality food and talented chefs. All dishes are home made and freshly prepared using the best local produce. The exquisite cuisine, served in the elegant, traditionally decorated Iona restaurant, is created from fresh local produce and is accompanied by fine wines and malts. |

| PROPERTY AMENITIES |
|
* Nowhere is Toravaig's hospitality more evident than in its delightful dining service in glowing candlelight. An opportunity to revisit an earlier tradition of hospitality when meals and conversation were savoured and never rushed. The soft furnishings in the sitting room tempt guests from their rooms each night, as does the luxurious scent of cooking from the restaurant. Under the personal management of the enthusiastic owners, this hotel is gaining a fine reputation for its cuisine. The freshest of highlands and islands produce features on the menus. Highlights include an ingenious fillet of salmon served with a herb crust, on brandied fennel with caramel sauce, as well as classic saddle of venison, pan fried on a bed of parsnip & potato puree with a port wine jus.
* The Iona Restaurant, styled traditionally as you would expect in a classic Scottish Country House Hotel restaurant, is open for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon teas and dinner. Fresh local produce is used. You’ll often hear restaurants using this phrase, but here on the Isle of Skye we have some of the world’s best local produce on our doorstep.
Food is available most of the day at Toravaig where hospitality is well understood. A nice spot for lunch too, or a bowl of homemade soup and some crusty bread in the afternoon. |
