This website helped me select Tryp Cibeles and we were not disappointed. The location is wonderful, with everything in walking distance. The room was good-sized and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and helpful and we loved the breakfast. It's not a luxury hotel by any means but I would stay there again in a heartbeat. We had a corner room overlooking the Gran Villa. I worried about the street noise but it was OK, since things start out slowly in Madrid every morning.

Located on the central Gran Via which is busy and noisy you wouldn't know it once inside, a central haven! (Its a great location though as you have metro station nearby and 5 minute walk from the old town.) The hotel is luxurious, clean, spacious. There is a top selection for breakfast and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was very spacious and to a high standard. The hotel completed our fabulous weekend in Madrid nicely!

everything previous posts have stated.....wonderful staff and breakfast.....Though a damp smell kept wafting in from bathroom, staff asked us to report it if it reoccured, I couldnt be bothered as Im sure the maid could smell it also and should report it!!!!!Apart from this it is well located and very nice...... would personally give it 3*

The Tryp Cibeles was exactly the kind of hotel we wanted for our first trip to Madrid. It is between two metro stops (Callao and Gran Via), near the Preciados shopping area and walking distance to all of the major attractions in the historic district. El Parque del Buen Retiro and el Prado are the furthest from the hotel, but still walkable.
The hotel has an entire floor of non-smoking rooms (6th floor) and the heavy paned windows really helps reduce the street noise. If you want total silence at night, however, request a room on the interior and you should be fine.
Breakfast was excellent with fresh cheese, meats, and eggs to order every morning. The service at breaksfast was also excellent. The rooms are small by US standards but clean, modern, and comfortable. The bathrooms have excellent water pressure, come with a hair dryer, and the best feature of the room. We had a room that overlooked Gran Via which was great for people watching. The lights work by inserting your room keycard in a slot by the door so energy is not wasted.
The front desk staff is nice and tries to do their best, but they often don't have great information about transportation or restaurants. Do your research ahead of time and you'll be better off. Be sure to check out el Corte Ingles's supermarket that is in the basement of their store on Preciados - we bought water and snacks there, which was much cheaper than VIPs.
My family and I spent 5 nights at the hotel and would definitely stay there again.
One word of caution: The taxi from the airport should be 17-18 euros including the 4 euro service charge for rides to/from Barajas airport.
We were overcharged on our ride from the airport (especially since the taxi driver took a complete trip around the city!), but got smarter on our ride back to the airport.

After reading the reviews on this site before booking a hotel in Madrid, I went ahead and booked it, hoping it would be as nice as promised...and we weren't disappointed. We had a lovely room, great value, great location...a nice comfortable place to get over a little jet lag before venturing out to explore Andalucia (in our case). The room was spacious, and charming...the bathroom very nice --the bathrobes and slippers a nice bonus in such a reasonably priced hotel.
Our room overlooked Gran Via -- but when we closed the windows at night, were undisturbed by the bustling street life below...but note that the windows do open...a huge bonus in a downtown hotel. Go ahead and book it with confidence.

I stay at the Tryp Cibeles for 5 night with my wife and 2 kids, breafast was of good standard, rooms are big, hotel was very stylish, staff were very friendly, professional and speak good english, close to all major shops , there is a local shop open till late in case you night drinks, snacks etc. dowside - you have take lift the first reception, try are get a room on the 3rd oir 4th floor becuase there is a disco in the first floor, don't venture into the back streets of the hotel if you have a family at night and a bad site for kids in the day).

We recently spent a few nights at the Tryp Cibeles in Madrid. Got a very cheap rate on gtahotels, so were nervous about the quality of the hotel despite good reviews - but the hotel was excellent - fantastic, huge room that was very quiet, lovely bathroom with deep bath and bathrobes, excellent and extensive breakfast and best of all, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Right on Gran via - only needed to catch the Metro once - to get to the airport. Used Aerocity for a shuttle bus into Madrid from the airport and would definitely recommend the service, especially if arriving late at night as we did.

Having spent forever looking for just the right hotel in Madrid, I finally plumped for the Tryp Cibeles. What a coup and an excellent find, first rate service and brilliant location. The hote is right on the main street in Madrid called Gran Via, we could get to everywhere very, very easily from here. There are 2 Metro stations with yds of the hotel and walking distances from the hotel were scenic and easy. In fact we didn't use the Metro as we walked everywhere including the evenings. Our room wasn't quite ready on our arrival at 10.10am, but they offered us coffee in the lounge while we waited, this only took 20 mins and our luggage was delivered to our room in advance. They gave us a front street view with a big balcony for our inconvinience at having to wait !The rooms are really nice and quite spacious for a city centre hotel, all the floors are newly laid laminate with quite good sound proofing built in (we did worry at first sight of it as we had several floors above us) The beds in our twin room were 3/4 and comfortable, the bathroom was HUGE with the best shower I've ever experienced. Plenty of towels which were changed daily and no silly little placard pertaining to keeping the same towels due to the ENVIRONMENT as seen in so many hotels these days (we all know it's not about that it's to do with the Hotel in question saving on there laundry bills !!!!!)We had a well stocked mini bar and the prices were quite reasonable, although we bought stuff to put in it and this wasn't a problem with the room maid.Great views from the balcony at all the life below our 4th floor room, excellent people watching to be had. We didn't try the breakfast at the hotel but it was always full and busy during the morning. A decent room service menu is also on offer 24hrs a day.The room had 2 sets of windows to eliminate any outside noise from the VERY busy street below and also blackout curtains if required. The only problem we endured was on our final evening when several Spanish couples arrived back to their y caused sooo much noise and were very inconsiderate. however prior to that we hadn't heard a sound in the evenings. On the day of our checkout the hotel organised us a taxi to arrive exactly at our specified time and our luggage was again picked up from the room and taked to the entrance for our departure.I would highly recommend this hotel especially if you are not in Madrid for long and wish to see as much as possible. Staff were very accommodating and the rooms lovely. I would most definitly stay here again especially as it was such excellent value for money too for a proper 4 star hotel with all the service that entails.p.s. Take the lift to the 8th floor and get on the rooftop terrace for some breathtaking views of the surrounding city.

The location of the hotel is very good. Just 2 blocks away from Metro station and at the side street of the busiest road of Madrid (Gran Via).
The room is not so big but acceptable but with a big toilet! Breakfast is also good which is out of our expectation. Mini Supermarket is 2 blocks away next to a Chinese restaurant.

The hotel is clean and modern. The air conditioning worked and the bathroom was nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent on the Gran Via and is near all of the tourist attractions.
The buffet breakfast is good but is an extra 13 euros per person, a little steep. Parking is at an adjacent facility and cost ~16 euros a day. Half the stations on the television were dedicated to porn; a few seconds of leud sex acts were followed by and invitation to purchase the show. Be careful if you are travelling with children.
I would absolutely stay there again and highly recommend it.
