Nice basic hotel

Univers Hotel is situated on the corner of Jean Medicini and Rue Liberte in the heart of the fashionable shopping area - five minutes walk from the Old Town, the beach and the Port. Although on a main junction the rooms were very quiet due to excellent double glazing, even those on the front of the hotel. On arrival we were given a twin room, which truthfully should have been designated a single room it was so very, very small. The room smelled very musty, I think possibly due to the faulty air conditioning which was very noisy, However very polite and helpful receptionist promised to arrange a different room the next morning - he kept his promise and we were moved into a very nice, much larger room at the front of the hotel. The room was very clean, nicely decorated, with quiet air conditioning. The bathroom was spotless. We had breakfast at the hotel, which was adequate, typically continental with a wonderful coffee. All in all, Univers Hotel is very nice basic hotel if you get lucky to have a nice front view room.

More than adequate

My wife and I have just returned from the Univers following a five day break. After acquiring only negative reviews on internet, we thought that we made a mistake, however when we arrived, yes there was a slight smell in reception, but otherwise we were absolutely delighted. The room was clean and appeared to have been recently refurbished. It was adequate size with a double and single bed. All of the staff we encountered with was very pleasant and more than helpful. We felt that Unvers hotel was more than comfortable for the amount we paid, the staff friendly and helpful, sheets and towels spotlessly clean, and the location absolutely perfect for the old town and beach.
