Great Hotel with sea and cliff view. Right near center of town but it's at the far end of Corso Italia, the main strip. So it's a walk, but not impossible. Flat most of the time on store lined street that you want to walk on anyway. The hotel is lively and noisey but fun. Seniors dancing,Young age school groups ect. Party time but not rowdy. In April it was cool, rainy and damp, no heat in room. No radiators. Hotel very modern though. Breakfast was great. Walk to train or take a bus. The buses are more or less shuttles. The main attraction area is small enough to navigate. A two minute taxi ride anywhere has the tourist price of 15-20 Euros.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the center of town. The staff was very, very friendly and helpful. The rooms were large (for italy) and clean.
We had a nice balcony with an ocean view which was beautiful except that it was partially obstructed by the air conditioners on the building in front of us. The breakfast was the best we had in italy with a variety of cakes, breads, scrambled eggs, cold cuts, cheeses.
Great hotel, i would stay here again.

Look no further. Villa Maria offers everything you would want in a fine hotel with great location to all the activities in Sorrento. Sea View rooms have a commanding view of the Bay of Naples. The rooms are immaculate, spacious and very well furnished. The staff couldn't be nicer and more helpful. Parking is a little tight but where isn't it in Italy. Food service is impeccable. A capable staff and Maitre D' preside over breakfast. The hotel is an easy walk to all central Sorrento activities; the staff is most helpful assisting guests. All of the big hotel nicities delivered with a small family style hotel touch.
Villa Maria is your best bargain in Sorrento.

After the reading the less than favourable review below I was nervous to spend my honeymoon at the Villa Maria Hotel - I needn't have worried....
The Hotel was clean, the reception desk staff all very friendly and efficient (perhaps it helped that we attempted to speak a bit of Italian?)
Our room was in the deluxe and was spotless - the balcony was the size of our garden back home and the view was breathtaking.
The bar was a lovely place to relax after an evening meal - very comfortable and quiet.
The breakfast was great and the chambermaid must've been pyschic and known when we were going out because we never saw her - but she did an excellent job everyday. The pool area is small but clean and tidy and again friendly staff.
The location couldn't be better restaurants, shops etc line the street from straight outside the hotel to the centre of the resort (approx 10 mins walk).
In total I think you should try for yourself - and don't believe all the horror stories you read!

we moved from Settimo Cielo after one night there - and were glad we did. Not only is it 1/3rd less (120 vs 80), it's all around better. The staff was nice, the room very clean, there was no view (the older rooms up front had a view but we were not in the room much). The breakfast was well above average (scram eggs bacon etc...). One of the reviews said it was a long walk - they dont know what they speak of - most of the hotels are actually quite a bit further along the coast walk way. The location here is better than most. -- as are most of the things...
