Pleasant stay
Situated on a party square in the old town, we were not troubled by noise as we had requested a room at the back which overlooked a leafy courtyard. Huge room, very comfortable, good breakfast, 10 minutes walk from station & main shopping street, Bahnhoffstrausse, & 2 mins to river. |

great location, clean accommodation, excellent service - all for a great value
We stayed pleased with Wellenberg and would stay there again, but it may not be for everyone. This is not a modern chain hotel which might be more suitable for business travelers. The hotel is located in the old part of Zurich on a narrow street reserved for pedestrians. Our room was quiet and clean. The hotel has a nice patio for warm weather and nice bar. Numerous restaurants are around the hotel, and one directly across the street serves Swiss specialties such as fondue and raclette. Small shops are nearby and the main shopping street, the Bahnhofstrasse, as well as the main train station, are just across the river, less than ten minutes away. Besides the convenient location, the staff were very polite and efficient. And overall, Wellenberg is an excellent value for a clean and comfortable accommodation, nice service and great location. |

Worthy of every penny - nice experience
We have stayed at the Wellenberg for 2 nights in late September.
It is centrally located in the historical district which is distinctive for its cobblestone streets and old village like buildings.
As for surroundings, there are numerous restaurants and interesting shops within the vicinity. The Hotel is also within quick walking distance from the Train Station, the lake, as well as the main shopping/business street. That being said, Zurich is fairly compact so you can walk to most areas fairly quickly.
The hotel itself doesn't look like much from the outside. The reception area is small as are the lifts.
Our room was fairly large, enough space for 3 people. While the decor was somewhat bland and outdated, it was clean and well cleaned daily.
The bathroom was probably the best part of the room, large and clean bath with shower. There was also a small LCD tv inside the bathroom which was a nice touch although you couldn't watch it and take a shower at the same time.
We enjoyed the breakfast, a large selection of everything is offered.
The staff at the front desk to the chambermaids to the restaurant servers were all very nice and friendly and professional. The experience at Wellenberg hotel worth the price it offered. We definitely enjoyed our stay. |
