Westin Europa & Regina Hotel is on Venice's Grand Canal, 250 yards from Piazza San Marco (St Marks Square) and opposite the church of Santa Maria della Salute.
The hotel links together five restored buildings, with five to six floors each, from the 17th to 19th centuries. Its ornate marble lobby features elegant furniture and mirrors, and a restaurant and piano bar offers outdoor seating on an open terrace with potted plants overlooking the Grand Canal.
During the summer, the hotel offers complimentary shuttle boat rides to its sister properties in Lido, where there are beaches, tennis, golf, and boating. |

i was dreading staying here because i had heard all of the negative postings. We stayed here for 3 nights (2 rooms, party of 5) in early august. the hotel was beautiful and clean, very elegant. Overall, the concierge was decent, but it all depended on whom was...
We arrived having just spent 7 fabulous nights at the Grand Hotel Florence, so comparisons were always going to be tough for the 6 nights at the Europa. However, to alight from the water taxi in the pouring rain and then have to carry our own (and heavy) lugga...
We went to Venice over Christmas 2003 on short notice, so we didn't have a lot of time research hotels. I found this site most useful as a sanity check. We stayed at the Georgione for a couple nights, but then they were full so we needed another place to stay....
