Zagreb is one of the most-visited cities in Croatia because of its medieval old city. It is situated next to Sava River and on the slopes of the Medvednica Mountain. Brief History
The history of Zagreb dates back to the Roman times and was formed from two medieval settlements on neighboring hills. The city was first mentioned in 1094 when they discovered a diocese on Kaptol. It was again mentioned in 1242, when neighboring Gradec gained its freedom.

Must-see sites in those areas include the Art Pavilion, Archaeological Museum, City Library and Botanical Gardens.
